When You Look Me In The Eyes

(Yesh, i know swannie has the same title for one of her posts. )

Seriously. When I get hooked onto something, I really get my claws into it until something else catches my attention. This time around, it's listening to Jonas Brothers - When You Look Me In The Eyes and Taylor Swift - Our Song for 2 whole days. And unfortunately, this streak of insanity is showing no signs of dissipating any time soon.

Well, not really that unfortunate la. After a couple of weeks listening to unintelligible Japanese anime songs, English songs are like a breath of fresh air. At least I can understand what they're singing about. The thing about English songs is that the lyrics are very straightforward - they talk about things that we can actually visualize happening around us - compared to abstract Chinese lyrics, which are very beautiful and all, but sometimes i think they're just trying too hard to be mysterious and poetic.

When you look me in the eyes
And tell me that you love me
    Everything's alright
When you're right here by my side
When you look me in the eyes
I catch a glimpse of heaven
    I found my paradise
When you look me in the eyes

    放过自己 放过压抑
    放过整片浮生的记忆
    往事痛击 孤单清晰
    喜欢就可以
    感情的戏 我没演技
    赢不了你温柔挑衅
    只好丢弃 只好不回忆
    用沉默反击
    (Poetic Wordplay & Abstract Comparisons)

See what I mean? (If you can't read Chinese, tough luck!) Anyway, I highly recommend the 2 tracks mentioned above if you're in the mood to listen to some feel-good pop-rock and country songs.

  • Xanga or Blogspot?

I'm seriously considering moving to Blogger. Here's the link:
Xäphyr™ - ✿ The Story of My Xappielicious Life ✿

I'm not saying that Xanga is bad or anything. In fact, i think it's really good. It's just that after reading so many of my friends' blogs on Blogger, it seems to give bloggers more freedom with the add-ons and applications in the sidebar. Not to mention that the simple layouts are beginning to appeal to me (don't get me wrong, i still like bling and/or glitter!).

Oh well, i might as well go sign up for a Blogger account and try it first. Details later if i'm really gonna move blogs.

    Have you ever...?

Have you ever seen fireworks blooming across the night sky when it's raining?

Have you ever felt the delight of spotting a single magnificent red rose in a tangle of unkempt undergrowth?

Have you ever tasted bliss when you savour the very first bite of an unforgettably scrumptious dessert?

Have you ever heard a sound sweeter than the laughter of your loved ones?

Have you ever smelled something that reminds you of home when you're in a foreign place?

If you think about it, life is actually full of "Have-You-Ever"s. From the smallest gestures to the biggest events in your life, the things that you have done may or may not have been experienced by other people before in their entire lives. Nevertheless, they are unique, if only because they are your personal experiences - something that has been seen, heard, felt and taken in as memories by you and you alone. Some memories will fade over time, or be overshadowed by others, but the feeling will always linger in a corner of your heart.

If somebody asks you a "Have you ever...?" question, the most logical and generally expected answer would be a straightforward "Yes" or "No". However, would you stop to think about it afterwards? If somebody were to ask me "Have you ever had coffee for breakfast before?", I'd just answer "Nope!", but I would probably think back to the one time I was in Singapore having breakfast in the hotel when i was going to get a nice hot cup of tea. I noticed that both pots contained similarly dark liquid which looked suspiciously like coffee, so (being the naturally lazy type) I just chose one of the pots at random (coffee never killed anybody) and - to my surprise - it was tea!

Another of those "Have you ever...?" moments that stand out in my memory is the time me and a group of friends were taking photo stickers at KL's TimeSquare. The question would be "Have you ever drawn on somebody else's photo sticker screen (thus successfully ruining said stranger's photos) and, when asked by the shop assistant, looked innocent and denied ever doing such a thing?". And my answer would be "Hell, yeah! It was fun!" Definitely a Polaroid-worthy "Have you ever...?" moment.

Evilness aside, "Have you ever..?" moments are being created every day, every minute, every second. Major events like birthdays and vacations are important, but don't forget ordinary stuff like LOL-ing to a page in a book or being caught singing like nobody's watching will probably give you the satisfaction of answering "Yes" to a "Have you ever...?" question.

"Love is a heart-shaped piece of dark chocolate with a hazelnut center."

    That's what i think anyway.

What Your Taste in Chocolate Says About You
You are sophisticated, modern, and high class.
Your taste is refined, but you are not picky.
You are often the first to try something new.

You are down to earth and lovable.
A true friend, you're very tolerant and understanding.
In fact, your friends' biggest problem is that they don't like each other!

You love to be in love. You crave romance, whether you're single or not.
You feel lost when you don't feel passion... you need someone to adore.
